It’s official! I’ll be photographing shelter animals for BARCS! That means I’ll get lots of experience photographing animals, and help a great cause at the same time! Plus the Sun recently printed an article about the woman who photographs the animals at the BaltCo Humane Society…so apparently it’s not bad advertising either. I’ve been looking for a way to help out there more often, but time is limited and this is something I can do once a week or so in a few hours, and finish it up at home. I’ll also be posting animals on Petfinder and a few other sites.

Recently, through an old friend who is now a fireman, I learned that the Baltimore City FD has a hockey team. As an avid hockey fan, I was pretty excited to also learn that they were looking for a photographer to come out and shoot at practices and games. Needless to say, I jumped at the chance. So yesterday, I headed out to the Reisterstown Sportsplex and met a few of the guys, and shot their practice.

Zeke’s is a small batch roastery here in Baltimore. They started in 2005 by selling coffee at Farmer’s Markets in the region. They then opened a retail location at their roastery in Lauraville, and they now have a storefront/coffee shop just up the road from their original location. The original spot is now just for roasting. Yesterday, I took advantage of the holiday day off and caught my new friend Todd whipping up some wonderful batches of the most aromatic beans.

In the past few days, two of my photos have been added to three Etsy Treasuries…”Silversmith’s Spoons” featured here and here; and “Bottle Tops” featured here! Some of my more Etsy-savvy friends have told me this is “kind of a big deal” and may lead to being featured on the front page of Etsy. How exciting!!

I’m still in shock, but happy to report that I sold seven pieces at my opening on Friday! The exhibit runs through June 3 so I may sell a few more before all is said and done. About 50 people turned out for the show, and my friend Michele (aka: The Tiny Kitchen) catered the event complete with an amazing five-layer coffee/mocha/hazelnut cake! It was a lot of work, but worth it, and I’m looking forward to my next exhibit!!

Just got back from the convention late last night…what a weekend! As always, it was over in the blink of an eye. This was the 3rd annual convention in Lehigh Valley, which is put on by my friend Steve Lemak of The Quillian in Allentown, PA. In addition to taking pics whenever I can, I also help out by running the tattoo contests and helping at the stencil booth. It’s always a blast and this year my souvenir tattoo was a fleur de lis (my tribute to New Orleans) by Kernal Tubbs. So, without further ado, here are my photos!
